A Zero Turn Lawn Mower for Maximum Efficiency!
Riding lawn mowers are great for anyone with a large lawn. You can cut the lawn
quickly and efficiently - and besides, they’re fun! If you are thinking about
buying a riding mower, check out the models that have a zero turn steering
system. A zero turn lawn mower can get around tight spots and cut your cutting
time in half.
A zero turn lawn mower can turn in a zero degree radius. The two rear driving
wheels are independently powered so that one can turn forward while the other
turns backward. This allows the mower to literally turn on a dime. The wheels
are usually controlled by two levers, but some models feature a traditional
steering wheel.
A zero turn lawn mower is more efficient that other riding mowers because there
is no part of the lawn that has to be cut twice. You can cover every inch of
lawn on the first pass. In addition, the zero turn steering system allows you to
cut closely to obstacles and trees so that clipping is kept to a minimum.
Because the zero turn lawn mower is rear-driven, you have plenty of visibility
up front. You can see exactly what the mower is about to pass over and avoid any
debris that has been accidentally left out on the lawn.
The lever method of steering a zero turn lawn mower takes a bit of time to get
used to. You control the mower by pushing the two levers forward. If you want to
turn right, you have to push the right lever more than the left. For those tight
zero radius turns, you push one lever forward while pulling the other one back.
Speed is controlled by how far you push the levers. All the way forward makes
the zero turn lawn mower head straight down the fairway at top speed. Most zero
turn riding mowers go about 6 or 7 mph at top speed – plenty fast enough to cut
that lawn in a flash!
